Eco-Lighthouse and Scope 3 - get structure, progress and effect in your climate work

Eco-Lighthouse is currently one of Norway's most recognized certification schemes for systematic environmental and sustainability work. For many companies, Eco-Lighthouse certification is a concrete and documentable step from ambition to implementation.

Aider collaborates with the Eco-Lighthouse Foundation to make it easier for Eco-Lighthouse certified companies to take the next step in climate accounting and climate follow-up.

What does Eco-Lighthouse certification mean in practice?

The Eco-Lighthouse Foundation manages a certification scheme that documents systematic environmental management.

In practice, this means that the company must be able to demonstrate:

  • structured HSE work
  • mapping of climate and environmental impact
  • concrete and measurable improvement measures
  • annual climate and environmental reporting
  • continuous improvement

It is not enough to "want" to do something. It must be documented.

For many businesses, the process reveals two things:

  1. They are doing more right than they think
  2. They lack structure, traceability and coherence

Making climate accounting easier - and more value-creating

Aider assists Eco-Lighthouse certified companies with climate expertise, advice and various climate platforms as a supplement to LUMA.

This can include, among other things:

  • structured data collection and data quality with documentation, traceability and verifiability
  • climate accounting with more detailed Scope 3 assessments
  • quality assurance and professional sparring on methodology, delimitations, emission factors and opportunities for improvement
  • Further development of climate work with practical tools and clear management information

More structured climate accounting provides a better overview of emissions in the business - especially related to Scope 3 in the value chain.

What is Scope 3?

Scope 3 includes indirect emissions in the company's value chain, for example from suppliers, purchasing, transportation, business travel and waste. For many businesses, Scope 3 makes up the largest part of the total climate footprint. That's why better insight into Scope 3 is often crucial to understanding where emissions actually occur and where measures can have the greatest impact.
