Cumulus Økonomi becomes part of Aider
In the Hunndalen district of Gjøvik, Cumulus Økonomi AS has built a modern, cloud-based accounting office. The company and its six employees are now becoming part of competence house Aider. “It will be a relief not having to say no to clients,” says Kari Schonhovd Hansen, Chair of Cumulus Økonomi.
The well-run accounting firm has long been on Aider’s radar, and as early as 2023, the two companies were in dialogue regarding a merger. At that time, the timing was not right for the Gjøvik-based firm. Now it is.
“We have certainly felt the challenges of being a small company, but we have also believed that we could manage them. We now see that it is impossible to ignore the advantages of becoming part of something bigger,” says Schonhovd Hansen, who is also an accountant at Cumulus.
She highlights, like many other small accounting firms, the growing number of requirements, regulations, and quality controls. Everything must be archived twice and three times – additional work that falls on employees who already have full workloads.
“This is further compounded by the difficulty of recruiting. Ideally, we would be more people, but it is challenging to find enough skilled professionals. As part of Aider, this will become easier. We can offer more opportunities, more exciting tasks, and greater flexibility to shape one's own role,” she explains, adding:
“Already, two existing Aider employees with ties to Gjøvik will be joining our team. Our goal is to be such an attractive workplace that others also choose both to live and work in Gjøvik. This is also beneficial for the entire region.”
With the full backing of the Aider competence house, the Gjøvik company will have significantly more resources at its disposal. This means greater security for clients, increased capacity – and an expanded service offering.
We will, of course, maintain our local presence, and our clients will keep their contact person. But with such a large and competent organisation behind us, we become far less vulnerable and can support clients on a completely different scale, particularly in areas such as technology, says the Chair.
Morten Alver, Partner and Regional Director at Aider, is very pleased to finally welcome the Cumulus team on board – especially given their location.
Hunndalen is just outside Gjøvik, on the way towards Raufoss, which is an incredibly exciting region. This has been a blank spot on our map for far too long, and now we are finally there. When it is also such a skilled and forward-thinking group, we simply couldn’t be more excited,” he says.
Both Alver and Aider’s Business Developer, Thomas Løken Larsen, predict that Cumulus Økonomi will reach new heights as part of Aider.
“This is an organisation that has done many things right. They have been technologically forward-thinking and well managed throughout. We will now support them with recruitment and increased capacity, which will be exactly the catalyst for growth they need,” they say in agreement.
The two Aider representatives now aim for new heights on behalf of all Aider offices in the region. Their goal is to double revenue for Innlandet by 2029.
“Our strategy, as always, is to attract talented people. We see that sharp minds want to be part of something dynamic and fast-growing. Now, they can find national opportunities also on the west side of Lake Mjøsa,” they conclude.
