Aider in Hamar strengthens its team with a new merger

Aiders new accounting office in Hamar had barely begun onboarding and initial operations before another merger came into play. – We could not let this opportunity pass us by, says Morten Alver, partner at Aider.


This time, Alver and Office Manager Jarle Holtet were not actively searching. The plan was for the new office to grow organically, and since the employees had not even settled in under the Aider banner yet, there was already plenty to handle.


– But then Helge reached out to us. I was initially prepared to say “sorry, we are at full capacity”, but that was not how things turned out. Already on the way to the car, both Jarle and I realised that there was something here.


 


– Strong drive


He is referring to Helge Bergo, Managing Director of Hamar Økonomitjenester – a Hamar based accounting firm with four employees. These four employees are now becoming part of the Aider family.


– We have had 11 good years, but we also recognised the need to renew ourselves. Those who do not evolve will eventually disappear. Some of the challenges we faced on the systems side required alternative solutions, and one of those solutions was a merger. Aider has exactly the forward leaning attitude that both we and our clients are looking for, so it was the obvious player to contact, says Bergo.


And Alver is glad that Bergo made the call. Some mindsets are worth pausing other activities for.


– Their office has probably operated more traditionally than ours, but at the same time, I noticed many similarities. Most importantly, they demonstrated real drive. Helge was simply eager to push forward together with us, and that is something we appreciate, says Alver.

– A completely different framework for growth


he timing was in fact quite favourable. The plan is for Helge and his colleagues to move directly into a newly refurbished wing and join the joint Aider onboarding process. Office Manager Jarle Holtet looks forward to this:


– This will create strong synergy. In fact, in several ways, as both Helge and we have extensive networks here in Hamar, but not the same network. We can now leverage each others competence and deliver even better to all our many clients, says Holtet.


Holtet also finds it particularly positive that several of the new colleagues are authorised accountants.


– The competency mix at Helges office was one of the things we found interesting. It is always beneficial to add more authorised professionals. More generally, reaching this number of employees provides a completely different platform for driving growth, also in terms of being an attractive workplace for top performers, says Holtet.


Ambition for additional offices


The original plan of organic growth has definitely not been abandoned. Quite the opposite: With Bergo and his team on board, progress is expected to accelerate.


– Our goal from day one has been to establish a solid presence around lake Mjøsa. We are already well on our way, and here in Hamar we already have capacity to recruit seven to eight additional employees. But we will not stop there, says Holtet, concluding:


– I believe we may be able to open offices in two or three additional locations within the next three to four years.
