In just a few years, the knowledge-based firm Aider has become Norway’s largest in accounting and business consulting. Now, they are continuing their international expansion by strengthening their presence in Denmark. “We have never been in a better position to succeed with our Northern European ambitions,” says founder and Aider CEO Andreas Vik about the acquisition.

Baker Tilly Denmark is a Danish audit and advisory firm with 180 employees and an annual turnover of approximately 300 million Norwegian kroner. They are part of the international Baker Tilly network, which is the world’s eighth-largest in auditing.
-Aider will continue to expand into new countries and grow in markets where we are already present, but the Baker Tilly network now allows us to serve clients worldwide, says Vik.
With the acquisition of Baker Tilly Denmark, not only is the top line and presence south of the Skagerrak strengthened, but it also opens the door to offering auditing services.
-Denmark has regulations that allow us to deliver both accounting and auditing services to the same client. For us, this represents a significant expansion of our service portfolio, and over time we will explore ways to provide this in other countries where it is legally possible, says Vik.
The Danish Aider operation will continue to be led by Claus Bonde Hansen, former Head of Audit at BDO Denmark.
- One of our goals in Denmark has been to find an established anchor business to build our own operation around. We have been in discussions with several companies, but Baker Tilly has always been at the top of our wishlist. Closing this deal now is huge, Claus Bonde Hansen adds:
Nevertheless, we continue conversations with other potential partners. Our growth here in Denmark is only just beginning.
The Chairman and Partner at Baker Tilly Denmark, Morten Friis Munksgaard, believes joining Aider was a strategic winning move.
- As recently as last autumn, we developed a strategy for growing by leveraging the latest technology and attracting the most talented employees. Our goal was to grow by 200–500 people by 2030. Now, we can achieve that in one to two years instead of five, he says.
So far, Aider is established in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Poland. The plan now is to accelerate its journey toward becoming a leading Northern European knowledge firm.
- We are extremely proud to have the Baker Tilly team on board. They are not only talented people, but their key personnel share the same work culture as us. We have never been in a better position to succeed with our Northern European ambitions, he adds.
