The Aider competence house becomes a partner to Lyn and will serve as the clubs full service provider for accounting services. – We are entirely dependent on partners with strong financial insight, and Aider was a perfect match for us, says Bjørn Gohn Jønsberg, Managing Director of Lyn 1896 FK.

When Lyns men and womens teams kick off the upcoming season, it will be with the Aider logo on their shorts. However, the white letters will signify more than sponsorship revenue: As a partner, Aider will support the Oslo based club with accounting and financial management – across both elite and grassroots football.

Just like Aider, we are experiencing rapid growth and moving upwards as a unified club. It is therefore essential for us to have control and structure. As a football club, making ends meet is not always easy, but now we have a solid financial partner to rely on, says Jønsberg.

A lot in common

Aider already provides accounting services to both Odd and Sandefjord Fotball, and Jønsberg explains that this experience weighed heavily in the decision.

– We are now part of top tier Norwegian football, and with that comes additional requirements beyond standard accounting tasks. It is reassuring to have a partner with experience in this specific area. Furthermore, as a competence house, Aider can support us with forecasting, analysis and operational efficiency, he says.

Lyn, for its part, will feature Aider in its communication channels, and the competence house will gain access to the football clubs partner network. Jønsbergs ambition is for the two organisations to grow together.

– We are both challengers on the rise in Norwegian football and Norwegian business. The people at Aider are forward looking and eager to explore new solutions, just like us. We have a lot in common, and now we will focus our efforts on helping each other become even better, Jønsberg concludes

Working well with their people

Aider partner Geir Finholdt, who has been closely involved in the process with the football club, is also enthusiastic about the many similarities.

– We sensed early on that there was strong chemistry here. Lyn has an energy and enthusiasm that reminds us of ourselves. They have reached their current position by working well with their people. I am extremely pleased that we have now entered into a partnership, and we will support them in every way we can, he says.

LYN

People first

Finholdt explains that he is looking forward to addressing many of the football worlds unique accounting challenges, such as the purchase and sale of players internationally, specialised reporting requirements within sports and handling of tax and VAT related matters.

– In addition, we will ensure transparent and efficient accounting at grassroots level, helping to ensure that membership fees and training contributions are managed in a way that provides elected leaders with a sound basis for decision making. Lyn is also a club with many small shareholders, and this must be handled responsibly, he says, concluding:

As always, we will support each other by putting people first.
