Aider is making a significant leap in its focus on tax, VAT, and business law. The law firm Aider Legal is being established through the merger of Aider’s in-house lawyers, the law firmMagnus Legal, and the law firmStrandenæs.
Barely six months after the launch of Aider’s legal team, Advokatfirmaet Aider Legal is being established – bringing together more than 50 employees.
- Overnight, we are now present in all four of the largest cities, says Trond Ingebrigtsen, Partner at Aider and Managing Director of Advokatfirmaet Aider Legal AS.
- We understand the importance of having strong market profiles built on a solid professional foundation. With Magnus Legal and Strandenæs on board, we now achieve that. In addition, these environments have a profile that aligns perfectly with a competence house with international ambitions, offering expertise in tax, VAT, and business law,” Ingebrigtsen explains.
Chairman of Aider, Knut Grotli, is proud to welcome the two law firms to the Aider team. He emphasises that both organisations bring something unique.
“They bring with them deep expertise, particularly in Norwegian and international tax law, as well as fields closely related to accounting. In addition, Magnus Legal contributes a substantial international network that supports our global ambitions, while Strandenæs brings a leading course portfolio and industry network.
Both Grotli and Ingebrigtsen believe that strong legal services are a key component of a fully fledged competence house, and that these acquisitions pave the way for a one-stop-shop approach.
Already today, we become a significant player, but our goal is to develop into a spearhead in legal services. Coming from the audit industry myself, it was an important shift to no longer be restricted by independence requirements. As a competence house rooted in accounting, we are, from a regulatory perspective, able to act as an even better and long-term advisor to our clients,” Ingebrigtsen says, supported by the chairman:
– “This is likely one of the reasons why these two firms, which could have chosen to go anywhere, chose Aider. And we are ready to engage with others who wish to think big together with us,” Grotli concludes.
Øivind Henrik von Mehren, Chairman and Partner at Magnus Legal, views the merger as a realisation of the firm’s strategy and a forthcoming competitive advantage.
“Our success formula has been to refine a one-stop-shop approach, particularly tailored to international businesses. We have structured the core areas of tax, VAT, global mobility, employment law, business law, and accounting services,” he says, adding:
“We will now have significantly greater capacity to serve large international clients while positioning ourselves to assume the role of in-house counsel for Norwegian-based companies.”
Harald F. Strandenæs, founder and Managing Director of Advokatfirmaet Strandenæs, explains that their alignment with Aider Legal is grounded in shared values.
“It is about meeting clients on their terms, being accessible, and using technology to deliver the highest-quality services. We also share Aider’s vision of where the business landscape is heading. Everything is growing larger, and the time had come for us to do the same,” he says, concluding:
– We will now gain access to increased capacity, technology, and additional resources that will support continued growth and even better service delivery. We will leverage Aider’s expanded competence and technology environment, while maintaining our independent and autonomous role.
