Aider becomes new finance partner for Lyn

Kompetansehuset Aider joins Lyn as a partner and becomes the club's total supplier of accounting services. "We are completely dependent on partners with a high level of financial understanding, and Aider was a perfect match for us," says Bjørn Gohn Jønsberg, General Manager of Lyn 1896 FK.

When Lyn's men's and women's teams kick off this year's season, it will be with the Aider logo on their shorts. But the white letters won't just be a symbol of sponsorship revenue: As a partner, Aider will help the Oslo club with its accounting and finances - in both grassroots and top-level football.

- "Just like Aider, we're growing rapidly and on the way up as a club. So it's important to keep your affairs in order. As a football club, it's not easy to make ends meet, but now we have a solid financial partner to lean on," says Jønsberg.

Much in common

Aider is already an accountant for both Odd and Sandefjord Fotball, and Jønsberg says that this experience was an important weight on the scales.

- "Now we're part of Norwegian top flight football, and with that comes more requirements beyond normal accounting. So there's a sense of security in having a partner who has experience of exactly that. In addition, a competence center like Aider can help us with forecasts, analyses and streamlining operations," he says.

Lyn, for its part, will profile Aider in its own channels, in addition to giving the consultancy access to the football club's partner network. Jønsberg's goal is for the two organizations to grow together.

- "We are both challengers on our way up and forward in Norwegian football and Norwegian business respectively. The people at Aider are forward-thinking and eager to find new solutions, just like we are. We simply have a lot in common, and now we're going to use the time to build each other even better," says Jønsberg.

Working well with his people

Aider partner Geir Finholdt, who has been closely involved in the process with the football club, is also excited about the many commonalities.

- "We noticed early on that there was a chemistry here. Lyn has an energy and enthusiasm that reminds us of ourselves. In addition, they've gotten to where they are by working well with their people. I'm super happy that we've now entered into a partnership, and we'll help as much as we can," he says.

People first

Finholdt says he is looking forward to tackling many of the football world's unique accounting challenges, such as buying and selling players to and from abroad, special reporting requirements in sport and dealing with tax issues.

- In addition, we must have a tidy and efficient accounting system across the board, where we help to ensure that members' payments of membership and training fees are managed in a way that provides elected leaders with a sound basis for decision-making. Lyn is also a club with many small shareholders, and this must also be managed sensibly," he says and concludes:

- "But as always, we will help each other by putting people first.
